Strety Spaces organize where your team’s work lives and who can access it. Use Spaces to control visibility for Company, Team, Person, and Project items, including To Dos, Rocks, Measurables, Issues, Headlines, Agendas, Messages, and Docs.
This guide explains how each Space works, how Private and Secret Spaces affect access, and how items can be assigned or shared across multiple Spaces.
The video above provides a full walkthrough of Strety Spaces. For written details, continue to the sections below.
What are Strety Spaces?
Strety includes four main types of Spaces:
Company Space: Organization-wide items, such as Docs and Messages
Team Space: Work connected to a specific team in your Strety account
Person Space: Items assigned to a person across their teams, plus personal items created in their own Person Space
Project Space: Items connected to a Strety Project, such as To Dos, Issues, Agendas, and Docs
Note: All To Dos, including To Dos from Secret Spaces and Project Spaces, are shared back to the assignee’s Person Space automatically.
Team Spaces
A Team Space is where the items and Agendas associated with a team come together. Any member of a team can view the data assigned or shared to that Space.
Private and Secret Spaces
Spaces can be set as Private or Secret. You can select this setting when you create a team or update it from the team’s settings.
Private Spaces are visible to team members and account Admins
Secret Spaces are visible only to members of that Space, which makes them useful for Same Page teams where you do not want global access
Note: A Person Space is always a Secret Space.
Primary Space and shared Spaces
Every item must have one Primary Space. The Primary Space determines the main location for the item.
When you assign a To Do, Rock, or Measurable in a Team Space, Strety automatically shares the item with the assignee’s Person Space. This lets the assignee see their assigned work from their Person Space.
To remove Person Space sharing, open the item and click the small x next to the shared Space.
Share items with multiple Spaces
You can share Rocks, Measurables, and To Dos with additional Spaces when the work affects more than one team or person.
Open the item you want to share.
Select the additional Spaces from the Spaces shared with dropdown.
Save your changes.
Person Spaces
A Person Space brings together the items assigned to a person across all Team Spaces, plus any personal items created in that Person Space.
To open your Person Space, click the People dropdown in the top navigation bar, then select your name.
Your Person Space is visible to you, your direct manager, and any managers above them in the reporting chain.
When you are assigned a To Do, Rock, or Measurable in a Team Space, Strety shares that item with your Person Space by default. This ensures everything assigned to you is viewable from your Person Space.
Add personal items
To create an item that should stay personal, set the Primary Space to your Person Space. Personal items are visible to you and your manager or managers.
You can create To Dos, Issues, Measurables, Rocks, and Headlines in your Person Space.
To share a personal item with another Team Space or Person Space, open the item and select the additional Spaces from the Spaces shared with dropdown.
Project Spaces
A Project Space helps you manage work connected to a specific Strety Project. To learn more, read Strety Projects | Complete Guide.
Project Spaces work similarly to Team Spaces. To Dos assigned in a Project Space automatically share back to the assignee’s Person Space.
To remove Person Space sharing from a Project To Do, open the To Do and remove the Person Space from the shared Spaces field.
External Teams
To add an external user to a team, first set the Team Space as external.
Important: Headlines cannot be cascaded to external teams from other teams. This helps prevent accidental sharing of internal data with external users.
To make an existing Team Space external:
Click the person icon.
Enable the Allow external users toggle.
Trash Bin
Each Team Space has its own Trash Bin. Adminland also has a separate Trash Bin.
Where deleted items go
When you delete an item or move it to Trash, Strety stores it in the Trash Bin for that specific Space or in Adminland.
How to access the Trash Bin
Go to the relevant Team Space or Adminland.
Click the three dots (•••) in the upper-right corner.
Select View Trash.
How long items stay in Trash
Items remain in the Trash Bin for 30 days
After 30 days, items are permanently deleted
Restore items from Trash
Open the Trash Bin.
Select the item you want to restore.
Click Restore.
