Strety Calendar | Complete Guide

Learn how Strety Calendar shows To Dos, Rocks, Milestones, project deadlines, and custom events in one filtered calendar view.

Written by Dan Lapuz

Strety Calendar gives your team one place to see dated work across your operating system. To Dos, Rocks, Milestones, project deadlines, custom events, and company-wide events appear on a shared calendar so you can plan the week, quarter, and team workload from the full picture.

What Calendar shows in Strety

calendar-overview

Dated items that appear on Calendar

Calendar automatically pulls dated items from the Strety spaces you can access. You do not need to manually add existing work to Calendar.

Calendar can show:

  • To Dos on their due dates

  • Rocks on their due dates

  • Milestones on their due dates

  • Projects on their end dates

  • Custom events created in Calendar

  • Company events, including holidays, offsites, and company planning dates

Custom events are useful for commitments that belong on the calendar but are not To Dos, Rocks, Milestones, or Projects. For example, you can create events for leadership offsites, Quarterly Planning sessions, Annual Planning sessions, company holidays, anniversaries, birthdays, or recurring team check-ins.

Visibility and permissions

Calendar follows your existing Strety permissions. You only see the spaces and records you already have access to.

Company-level events can remain visible when you are viewing a focused Team Space, Project Space, or Person Space Calendar. This keeps shared company dates, such as holidays, offsites, and company planning sessions, available alongside the work in a specific space.

Events created in another space can also be shared with the Company space. This lets a team event appear on the company-wide Calendar without recreating the event.

Access and setup

Open Calendar

You can access Calendar from the main Strety navigation or inside a specific space.

To open the company-level Calendar:

  1. Go to the top navigation bar.

  2. Select Calendar.

    calendar-top-navigation

The company-level Calendar shows dated items from the spaces and records you have access to.

To open Calendar inside a space:

  1. Open any Team Space, Project Space, or Person Space you want to review.

  2. Select the Calendar tab.

    calendar-space-tab

Note: The space-level Calendar shows items that live in that space, plus visible company-level events.

Add Calendar to an existing space

If Calendar does not appear in a Team Space, Project Space, or Person Space, you can add it to the space tools.

To add Calendar from the space tool tabs:

  1. Open the Team Space, Project Space, or Person Space.

  2. Go to the space tool tabs at the top of the space.

  3. Select the plus icon at the end of the tool tabs.

Navigate and customize Calendar views

Use Calendar controls

Calendar includes controls that help you move through time, change views, create items, and filter what appears.

From the Calendar page, you can:

  • Use the month and week picker on the left to move through dates

  • Select Today to return to the current day

  • Change the displayed month and year

  • Switch between Calendar view and Schedule view

  • Filter by space, item type, and owner

  • Select New event to create a custom event

  • Create a new Event or To Do by hovering over a date and selecting the plus icon

Note: Calendar respects the configured start-of-week setting from the Organization settings.

Use Schedule view

Schedule view shows dated items in a timeline-style list instead of a calendar grid.

Use Schedule view when you want a simple list of upcoming work by day. Empty days are skipped, which makes it easier to scan future To Dos, events, milestones, and deadlines without moving through each calendar week. Event attendee counts also appear in Schedule view, so you can see how many people are included without opening the event.

calendar-schedule-view

To switch to Schedule view:

  1. Open Calendar.

  2. Select Schedule on the top-right.

To return to the calendar grid, select Calendar.

Filter Calendar by space

Use the left navigation pane to choose which spaces appear on Calendar.

calendar-space-filter

You can filter by:

  • All, Member, and Pinned Spaces

  • Company space

  • Team Spaces

  • Project Spaces

  • Person Spaces

Selecting, clearing, or using Focus on the space filters updates which items appear on Calendar.

To focus on one space:

  1. Find the space in the left navigation pane.

  2. Hover over the space name.

  3. Select the Focus option.

    calendar-focus-space

Focus shows items that live in the selected space without requiring you to manually clear every other space.

Filter Calendar by owner

Use the owner filter to view items based on who owns or is assigned to the work.

calendar-owner-filter

The owner filter can show:

  • Everyone’s assigned items

  • Mine, which shows items assigned to you

  • A selected person’s items

Filter Calendar by item type

Use item type filters to decide which Strety records appear on Calendar.

calendar-item-type-filters

You can filter Calendar to show or hide:

  • Events

  • Rocks

  • Milestones

  • Projects

  • To Dos

Item-type controls are styled like toggles or checkboxes so it is clearer which record types are visible. Milestones and Projects also have clearer type icons alongside Rocks and other records.

Note: Items in Calendar appear the same way they are listed in the filter buttons for clearer type identification.

For example, you can turn off every item type except To Dos to see upcoming task deadlines, or focus on Projects to review project end dates.

calendar-type-filter-toggle

Calendar uses each item’s relevant date:

  • To Dos appear on their due dates

  • Rocks appear on their due dates

  • Milestones appear on their due dates

  • Projects appear on their end dates

  • Events appear on the event date, date range, or recurring schedule you set

Create and manage dated work

Create an event or To Do from a Calendar date

You can create work directly from a date on Calendar.

  1. Hover over the date where you want to create the item.

  2. Select the plus icon.

  3. Choose whether to create a custom Event or a To Do.

  4. Enter the item details.

  5. Save or create the item.

This is helpful when you are planning a week or month and want to add a To Do directly to a specific date without leaving Calendar.

Reschedule dated work from Calendar

calendar-reschedule-event

You can drag dated Strety items to a new day on Calendar to reschedule them.

Dragging an item updates the relevant date for that item, such as the due date for a To Do, Rock, or Milestone, or the end date for a Project.

This is helpful when planning around busy weeks, adjusting project timelines, or moving commitments after a team planning session.

Events

Create a custom event

Events are custom calendar items you create in Strety. They are useful for meetings, planning sessions, holidays, offsites, check-ins, and other dated commitments that should appear alongside your team’s work.

calendar-new-event-form

To create a new event from the Calendar toolbar:

  1. Open Calendar.

  2. Select New event.

  3. Enter the event name.

  4. Select the event date or date range.

  5. Choose whether the event is all-day or timed.

  6. Add a repeat rule, if the event is recurring.

  7. Add a place or link, if needed.

  8. Invite attendees.

  9. Add event details.

  10. Choose the space where the event should live.

  11. Add subscribers, if needed.

  12. Select Create.

You can also create an event directly from a date on Calendar:

  1. Hover over the date where you want to create the event.

  2. Select the plus icon.

  3. Select Event.

  4. Enter the event details.

  5. Select Create.

Set event timing and recurrence

Events can support different scheduling needs.

Below are the types of events you can create along with how they appear in Calendar:

  • All-day events

    calendar-all-day-event

  • Timed events

    calendar-timed-event

  • Multi-day events

    calendar-multi-day-event

  • Recurring events

    calendar-recurring-event

Recurring events can repeat on flexible schedules, such as daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, or custom repeat rules.

calendar-recurring-event-options

Examples:

  • A monthly team check-in

  • A quarterly leadership offsite

  • A multi-day company outing

  • A company holiday

  • A recurring planning session

Timed events display based on the viewer’s time zone. When an all-day event's end date is automatically populated, opening its date picker opens on the relevant month instead of jumping back to the current month.

Move or share an event

When you create an event, choose the space where the event should live. You can also move an existing custom event to a different Strety space if the event belongs somewhere else later.

calendar-event-space-selection

Company Calendar events are visible across the company to people with access. Events created in a specific Team Space, Project Space, or Person Space live in that space and follow that space’s access.

Events created outside the Company space can be shared with Company so they also appear on the company-wide Calendar. For example, a leadership team planning event can live in the leadership Team Space and still appear on the Company Calendar for broader visibility.

For example:

  • Create a company holiday in the company Calendar

  • Create a team planning session in the team’s Calendar

  • Share a team event with Company when it should appear company-wide

  • Move an event to another Strety space when its ownership changes

  • Create a project kickoff in the Project Space Calendar

  • Create a personal reminder in a Person Space Calendar

Event attendees, counts, and notifications

Events can include attendees and subscribers.

  • Attendees receive notifications the day before and the day of an event.

  • Subscribers receive event updates.

  • For recurring events, you can subscribe to an individual recurring occurrence instead of the whole series.

  • Attendee counts appear directly on events in both Calendar view and Schedule view, so you can see how many people are attending without opening the event first.

Edit a recurring event

When you edit a recurring event, you can choose how much of the recurring series to update.

To edit a recurring event:

  1. Open the recurring event from Calendar.

  2. Select Edit.

    calendar-recurring-event-edit

  3. Choose one of the recurring event edit options:

    1. Select This event to update only the event you opened.

    2. Select This and all following events to update the event you opened and future events in the series.

    3. Select All events in this series to update every event in the recurring series.

  4. Make your changes.

  5. Save the event.

For example, if a recurring event currently repeats on Mondays and you edit All events in this series to repeat on Tuesdays, the recurring series moves to Tuesdays. If you select This event and change only one occurrence, only that selected event changes.

Editing an event through its title or description defaults to This event instead of This series. You can still choose broader series-edit options when you intentionally want to update more than one occurrence.

Important: Choose the recurring event edit option carefully. Editing all events in a series updates the full recurring series, not just the event you opened.

Work with an event

After you create an event, select it from Calendar to open the event details.

From an event, you can:

  • Add comments

  • Review activity

  • Create related items

  • Link related Strety records

  • Bookmark the event

  • Move the event to trash

Related items can include:

  • Issues

  • To Dos

  • Headlines

  • Messages

  • Rocks

  • Projects

When you relate or create a To Do, Issue, Headline, or other record from a Calendar event, the event modal updates its Related To section without requiring a manual refresh.

This helps you keep discussion, follow-up work, and related context connected to the event.

What Calendar does not include

Calendar focuses on showing Strety work and custom Strety events in one place.

Calendar currently does not include:

  • Google Calendar or Outlook calendar sync

  • Meetings and Agendas tied directly to calendar events

  • Undated items

  • Completed items

  • Space colors

Events live in Strety. External calendar sync is not included.
