Strety Shoutouts | Complete Guide

Learn how to create, view, filter, and report on Shoutouts in Strety so your team can recognize people who live your Core Values.

Written by Dan Lapuz

Shoutouts help your team turn Core Values into a visible, everyday habit. In Strety, you can recognize teammates for the values they are living, share that recognition with the right audience, and connect Shoutout activity to the spaces, Agendas, Reviews, and reports where your team already runs EOS.

Use this guide to create Shoutouts, choose where they appear, understand who gets notified, and review recognition trends across your organization.

Shoutouts Feature - Overview Video

Above is video walkthrough of Strety's Shoutouts that shows a quick glimpse on how to use this feature

What Shoutouts are used for

Shoutouts make recognition visible across your team or company. They are especially useful for reinforcing Core Values, celebrating strong work, and giving leaders a clearer view of how team members show up day to day.

Core Values are most useful when your team sees them in action. Shoutouts give your organization a shared record of who is living your values, where recognition is happening, and how those moments connect back to your people, meetings, and Reviews.

shoutouts-real-examples

A Shoutout can recognize one person or multiple people. Each Shoutout includes:

  • The person or people being recognized

  • The Core Value or Core Values they demonstrated

  • A short message explaining the recognition

  • The space where the Shoutout is created

  • Visibility and notification settings

Tip: Use Shoutouts to connect recognition to specific examples. A short, specific message helps the recognized person understand what they did well and helps the rest of the team see what living your Core Values looks like in practice.

Prerequisites

Before you create or review Shoutouts, make sure:

  • Your organization has Core Values set up in Strety

  • You have access to the space where you want to create or view Shoutouts

  • Shoutouts is enabled in Adminland > Advanced Features

  • The person you want to recognize is a member of your Strety organization

Note: Core Values appear as selectable options when they have already been set up for your organization. If you do not see Core Values when creating a Shoutout, check with your leadership team or Account Owner.

Shoutouts is an optional tool. If your team wants to keep its setup EOS Pure, an Admin can turn off Shoutouts from Adminland > Advanced Features.

Create a Shoutout

You can create a Shoutout from several places in Strety, including the global Create button, a specific space, another Strety item, or a teammate’s profile preview. Each Shoutout can include one or more recipients, one or more Core Values, and a note explaining the recognition.

Choose where a Shoutout appears

When you create a Shoutout, you can choose where it belongs. This controls where the Shoutout appears and who can find it later.

Use space and visibility settings to keep a Shoutout within a team or share it with the whole company. This lets your team recognize people in the way that fits the moment.

shoutout-space-selection

You can create Shoutouts in:

  • A Company Space

  • A Team Space

  • A Project Space

  • A Person Space

By default, Shoutouts created from the global create button and Profile Shoutouts are sent to the Company Space. This is useful when you want the recognition to be visible across the organization.

If you create a Shoutout in a specific space, it appears in that space’s Shoutouts list.

Note: When a Shoutout is shared company-wide, it is visible to all internal users except external users.

Choose who gets notified

Shoutouts include subscriber settings that control who receives notifications

shoutouts-subscribers-selection

For Company Space Shoutouts, the default subscribers are typically the sender and the person or people being recognized. The Shoutout is still visible in the Company Space.

For Specific Space Shoutouts (Teams, Person, Projects), you can choose whether notifications go only to the sender and recognized person, or to members of the team.

You can also create a Shoutout in a specific space and make it visible company-wide. This is useful when the recognition is connected to a team, project, or person, but the whole organization should see it.

View and interact with Shoutouts

View a Shoutout notification

When someone sends a Shoutout, subscribers receive an inbox notification.

A Shoutout notification shows:

  • Who sent the Shoutout

  • Who was recognized

  • Which Core Values were recognized

  • Where the Shoutout was created

Click the notification to open the full Shoutout page.

View Shoutouts in a space

Each space has its own Shoutouts page. You can view Shoutouts in the Company Space, Team Spaces, Person Spaces, and Project Spaces

  2. Select Shoutouts.

  3. Review the company-wide Shoutouts list.

Company-wide Shoutouts give your organization a shared feed of recognition. People with access can review, comment on, and react to Shoutouts from one place.

Filter Shoutouts

On any Shoutout Board in any space, you can filter the Shoutouts list to find specific recognition activity.

Available filters include:

  • Recipient

  • Sender

  • Core Value

  • Date

Note: If a Shoutout recognizes multiple people or Core Values, it appears in the filtered list when one of the selected options matches the Shoutout.

  • Add a comment

  • Create related items from the Shoutout, such as To Dos, Issues, or Headlines

Related items stay connected to the Shoutout so your team can keep context around the recognition.

Tip: Add a comment when you can provide extra context or reinforce the recognition. Reactions are useful for quick acknowledgment, but comments make the recognition more meaningful.

View Shoutouts in Agendas

You can review Shoutouts during an Agenda.

Shoutouts can also support 1:1 Agendas, team Agendas, and leadership Agendas by bringing recent recognition into the conversations your team already runs in Strety.

To add Shoutouts to your Agendas as an Agenda item:

shoutouts-add-agenda-item
  1. Open your Agenda

  2. Click on Add... on the left Agenda items list

  3. Select Shoutouts

In an Agenda, the Shoutouts view shows recognition activity for that team. You can choose whether to show only company Shoutouts or focus on Shoutouts related to the team.

The Shoutouts Agenda item view includes:

  • Total Shoutout activity

  • Core Value recognition trends

  • Most recognized team members

  • Top Shoutout senders

Tip: Review Shoutouts during team Agendas to reinforce the behaviors your team wants to see more often. This creates a regular rhythm for recognizing people who live your Core Values.

Adding Shoutouts in Reviews

You can add Shoutouts to a Review by adding it as a Section in the Review Form. The video above shows how Shoutouts can be tied to Reviews

The Shoutouts section shows recognition activity for the direct report during the selected Review period.

shoutouts-reviews-section-agenda

In the Shoutouts section, you can see:

  • How many Shoutouts the direct report received

  • How many Shoutouts the direct report sent

  • Which Core Values they were recognized for

  • Who recognized them

This helps you understand how people recognized the direct report for living your organization’s Core Values during the Review period.

This gives managers and leaders additional context for quarterly conversations by showing how a direct report has been recognized for living your organization’s Core Values.

Shoutouts can also appear in the Review Agenda after the Review is filled out and the Agenda is created.

View Shoutout Reports

The Shoutouts Report gives your organization a broader view of recognition activity.

Reports help your organization see recognition patterns at scale, including where Core Values are showing up and who is sending or receiving recognition most often.
