Cascading messages are a crucial part of the EOS® (Entrepreneurial Operating System) framework, especially within the context of a Level 10 Meeting that ensure communication makes it out of the meeting and to any/all other teams who need to be informed

Benefits of cascading messages from your L10s:

  • Alignment & consistency

  • Increased accountability

  • Empowerment via context

  • Faster implementation of change

By embracing cascading messages as a fundamental element of the Level 10 Meeting structure, organizations can foster a culture of transparency, trust, and alignment, ultimately leading to greater success.

Here's a video demonstrating how Strety Cascading Messages work

Cascading Messages vs Cascading Headlines in Strety

Cascading Messages in Strety serve as both a reminder and a historical artifact about what was decided to cascade later. We use the word reminder because they are just that, reminders a message needs to be cascaded after the meeting is complete.

Once the agenda is completed, Strety creates a To-Do based on that cascading message created in the agenda. That way it is never forgotten and - depending on what it is - can be communicated in whatever method best serves the message - in person, in private, over the phone, in a town hall, via an Issue, by email.... whatever!

On the other hand, Cascading Headlines are high level announcements you can quickly send to other teams directly from inside the agenda or outside the agenda. Typically these are best served for updates or DYKs that require little to no follow-up by the receiving team(s).

How to Create a Cascading Message

Cascading Messages can only be created within a live agenda. You can create a Cascading Message in one of two ways/places

  1. At any point throughout a meeting, if you identify a message that needs to be cascaded, click on the Cascade icon in the top nav bar

  2. During the Conclusion step of the agenda

Give your cascading message a name, provide any additional details, assign user(s) responsible for cascading the message, and set a due date for when they need to cascade the message by

Note: It is common to have multiple cascading message in each meeting

Once you conclude the meeting, all assignees of Cascading Message(s) will have a To Do created to hold them accountable for cascading the message to their respective audiences.

Any Cascaded Message will remain visible & clickable in the Agenda Summary, so you can see the status of each cascaded Message

How the To Dos will appear within your team To Do list
