Strety Docs | Complete Guide

Written by Derek Weaver

What are Strety Docs

Strety Docs allow you to create, organize, and assign all of your company & team-specific internal documentation, including SOPs, policies, and stories, all in one location!

Docs can be assigned to anyone in your organization. Once assigned, Strety will automatically create a To Do for the assignee, and you'll be notified once they read the Doc. You can even attach Docs to seats in your Accountability Chart so that they are instantly assigned to anyone newly added to the role!

Watch this video for a high-level overview of Strety Docs

Company Docs vs Team Docs

Company Docs are accessible by everyone in the organization. Team Docs can only be viewed and assigned to members of the Team Space the Doc belongs to

When creating a Doc click into the Space assignment to confirm whether the Doc is set as a Company or Team Doc

Team Docs

If you'd like to create Docs at the team level - great for details processes - click + sign from your Team Overview page and enable Docs

How to Create a Company Doc

Find Docs from the Company tab in the top navigation bar then select Create a New Doc from the New dropdown

Give your Doc a Title and Description and select the Folder and Category of Doc, then begin creating!

Doc Categories

We've created (3) default categories to categorize Docs

  • Policy - Those things everyone needs to read like Privacy Policies, Acceptable Use Policies, Incident Response Plan, and Time-Off Policies

  • Process - Specific processes & workflows, equally as common at the team level

  • Story - A catch all for information important to a) share and b) confirm receipt

Feel free to edit these defaults and/or create your own that align with your organizational needs

Doc Folders

Folders are a way to better organize your Docs. We highly recommend using folders as they will make life easier for both the creators and assignees

How to Publish a Doc

When you begin to build - or add content - to your Doc, save yourself time & effort by copying/pasting existing information directly into the Doc. You can also drag & drop images and files directly into them, including videos! Click Save draft to save your progress.

Once your draft has been saved, you have two options:

  1. Publish - This means you're ready for your Doc to be accessible by all

  2. Edit - This allows you to continue editing the Doc

Once you're ready for your Doc to go live, click Publish

How to Add Reading Assignments

Once a Doc it published, it can now be assigned to your users to read/complete.

To require people to read a Doc, click Add Reading Assignments from the action pane. You have 3 options:

  • Current Space - Everyone in the Doc's Primary Space will be assigned

  • Company Seats - Assign it to role(s) from your organization's Accountability Chart and anyone assigned to those roles will be assigned

Once a Doc is assigned, the assignee receives To Do to complete the Doc as well as a notification of the assignment

Email Notification Example:

Note: Any user who is added to a Space or Seat after the Doc is assigned will automatically be assigned a To Do to read each Doc linked to the Space or Seat

When the assignee opens the To Do they'll have a direct link to access the Doc that's been assigned

Assigning/Linking Docs to Accountability Chart Seats

Certain Docs are tied to Seats rather than Teams. If you want to link a Doc to specific Seat within the Accountability Chart, click Add Reading Assignments, select the Company Roles option and make your selections

From the Roles Chart you will be able to see all linked Docs when opening a specific role.

How to Remove Doc Reading Assignments

If you need to remove a Doc's reading assignment from it's current space or seat setting, click the red x in the Assigned To settings

Completing a Doc/Marking a Doc as Read

Open the Doc you've been assigned and review the content. Once completed, click Mark as Read and we'll notify the creator that you're up to speed

Doc Revisions

Make changes to your Doc by clicking Edit in the right menu pane. If the changes warrant a need for the assignees to re-read the Doc, Save as a new Revision

When a new Revision is saved, everyone previously assigned - either in the Space or Roles(s) - will receive a new To Do to complete the revised Doc

To see previous revisions and what was changed, click the Revisions tab; the changes will be highlighted in green and red
